Shifting Perspective

After a particularly challenging day today mentally, I got my daily quote from terrific Waking Up app and it hit pretty hard:

So much has been given to me I have not the time to ponder that which has been denied.

-Helen Keller

I continue struggle with my longtime goal of establishing a daily meditation practice, but even if I don’t fit my 10 minutes a day in, I find that my mind is always pondering the lessons I’m learning through the app. Maybe especially so as part time practitioner, I find the daily quotes especially to be both grounding and enlightening.

Today’s quote coming when it did really gave me the perspective shift that I really needed.

It’s so easy to focus on all the things that are keeping me down. To get lost in the things that I didn’t accomplish yesterday or won’t accomplish tomorrow. It’s much harder for me to see all that I have and all that I have done.

So tonight, I’ll be taking a breath, thinking about all that I has been given to me, and remember that its okay to reset and begin again.

Hello World

I suppose this the standard way that these things start. I’m not sure what this will be yet, but I am feeling the need to loosen the pressure building in my head. What better way than to dump all of my thoughts out into the ether?

I have a pretty small footprint online. I do not plan to promote this blog. I do not plan on trying to drive views. We’ll see where this goes and how long I keep it up. From where I stand today, I’m simply looking for an outlet.

If you happen to stumble upon this site, I welcome you! Even better if you relate to any of my ramblings. Feel free to reach out if you care to. If not, oh well.

Here goes nothing.
